Four persons, three of whom children, perished last night when the cart by which they travelled was struck by a car on the Leuseni-Chisinau road, not far from Leuseni village, IPN reports.

The General Police Inspectorate said besides the four victims, there were another two women and two men in the cart. These were hurt and were taken to the Hancesti and Nisporeni District Hospitals. But the impact was fatal for a 25-year-old woman and three children aged 4, 5 and 16.

Persons in charge of the Admissions Section of the Nisporeni District Hospital have told IPN that the two men were admitted to their hospital. One of them had a broken forearm. He received medical assistance, but refused to be hospitalized. The other man is in a very serious state. He suffered multiple traumas and is unconscious.

According to the police, the cart was hit by the car when this was crossing the highway. The car was driven by a man aged 34 who traveled from the Leuseni customs post to the municipality of Chisinau.

The driver was arrested. An investigation is under way to establish all the circumstances  of the accident.
