The 18th Winter Charity Bazaar will take place at the national exhibition center “Moldexpo” on December 7. The event is traditionally organized by the International Women’s Club of Moldova (IWCM). Ambassadors’ wives will prepare delicious dishes this year as well and the proceeds of the bazaar will go to children suffering from cancer, IPN reports.
IWCM co-president Corina Cojocaru-Ulianovschi told a news conference that all the embassies working in Moldova will take part in the bazaar, alongside a number of national producers. This year the donation will go to two sections of the National Oncology Institute – the Hematology Section and the Pediatric Oncology Section - and to children who need special care within the Jaw-Facial Prosthetics Center.
The Turkish Ambassador’s wife Pakize Banu Cankan Kartal, who is the co-president of the IWCM, said that at this charitable activity every country presents its national products, traditional cuisine and beverages, works of art, clothes, books and children’s toys.
The event will include a raffle with such prizes as roundtrip airline tickets, phones and others. More than US$40,000 was raised at the bazaar last year.
Started in 1997, the International Women’s Club of Moldova has so far collected over US$450,000 for different charity projects through such events as the Holiday Bazaar, the Night of Arts and Fashion Show. The club member work as volunteers and direct all the proceeds to children, women and socially deprived groups of Moldova.
