No Easter fair will be staged in the center of Chisinau this year as well, Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca announced Monday. However, the economic entities will be able to display their Easter products at fairs in the capital city’s districts, IPN reports.
Valentina Constantinov, deputy head of the General Division of Trade, Public Food and Service Provision, said that such a fair wasn’t mounted in downtown Chisinau last year too, but a number of producers asked that such an event should be organized. The companies want to be able to sell Easter cakes and other Easter products in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral on the alley of Pushkin St, where the Easter fairs were traditionally staged.
The mayor of Chisinau said that by organizing this fair in the center of the capital city, they create the illusion that the goods sold there are different or cheaper. But this is not so. The prices are the same as in shops. Thus, no such events will be held in downtown Chisinau anymore. In the future, the district fairs could also not be staged.
The Easter fair in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral involved about 70-80 economic entities with over 100 trading places.
