The inauguration of the Christmas tree in the central square of Chisinau and of the winter holidays could take place with delay. The municipality found the fir tree, but it is not definite that this will be inaugurated on December 1, as it was announced earlier, IPN reports.
Acting mayor Silvia Radu, in the November 27 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, said there are no trees that would meet the requirements for a Christmas tree that is to be placed in the Great National Assembly Square. Thus, a new search method will be used next year so as not to affect nature and to have the nicest tree in the country.
Deputy head of the Green Areas Association Galina Leahu said that the Christmas tree this year as well will be special. “We won’t tell more as we want this to be a surprise for everyone. There were identified a number of variants,” she stated, adding that the holidays could be officially opened with a delay this year.
