Withdrawal of foreign troops from Moldova will be examined by UN in October

Moldova’s request to include the complete pullout of the foreign military troops from Moldova’s territory will be included in the agenda of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly as an additional issue. The issue will be examined in one of the meetings that will be held this October, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration specified following press reports that the subject was put off by the UN, IPN reports.

“According to the working program of the General Committee responsible for procedural aspects of the agenda of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, the issue proposed by the Republic of Moldova will be examined at one of the meetings that will take place this October. The press reports, including about the postponement of the examination of the point proposed by the Republic of Moldova, are not true. The UN General Assembly didn’t examine this issue,” the Ministry says in a press release.

On August 23, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu said the Moldovan authorities requested the United Nations to include the withdrawal of the foreign troops from Moldova’s territory in the agenda of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly that will be held at the start of October.  President Igor Dodon described this request as a useless PR action.
