With funny money at the bank

The Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office has started legal action against a young man suspected of counterfeiting and trying to put forged money into circulation, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office. The prosecution accuses the young man of forging banknotes of 1,000 lei and 50 lei in the dormitory room of his friend, using special equipment. Going to a local office of BC “Banca de Economii” SA on March 28, the man tried to exchange 22,450 forged lei for 2,370 USD. But the bank’s operator checked the banknotes and found out that they were not genuine. The accused is now under arrest. According to prosecutors, the young man is an expert in martial arts and has a black belt. If found guilty, he could face 10 to 20 years in jail.
