Winter wheat harvest could exceed average for last ten years

The winter wheat harvest this year is projected to be slightly higher than the average for the last ten years. According to the forecasts of the State Hydrometeorological Service, the sunflower seeds crop will also be one of the highest in the last ten years, IPN reports.

The State Hydrometeorological Service anticipated that the wheat harvest in 2016 will total 2.8-3.1 tonnes/ha. The average for the last yen years was 2.7 tonnes/ha. The average harvest of sunflower seeds is expected to be of 1.6-1.8 tonnes/ha. During the last ten years, the average was of 1.4 tonnes/ha.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the worst sunflower seeds and winter wheat harvests were witnessed in 2007, when less than 1 tonne/ha was collected. The richest crop was in 2010 and 2014 – 3.3 tonnes of wheat and 1.8 tonnes of sunflower seeds per hectare.
