Winter vacation to last one day longer than last year

The Moldovans' winter holidays will last one day more than last year, as the Government adopted a decision in this respect, Info-Prim Neo reports. On January 2 (Friday), 5 (Monday), 6 (Tuesday) and 9 (Friday) were declared as day-offs for employees. They will work instead on January 17 and 31, February 21 and March 14, 2009. Traditionally the days of January 1, (New Year) January 7 and 8 (Christmas), are days-off. January 3, 4, 10 and 11 are in weekends, so the winter vacation will last 11 days. According to deputy premier Igor Dodon, these modifications won't influence the balance of the working time in the first quarter of 2009. Premier Zinaida Greceanai ordered that the banks and other institutions should work according to a special schedule, so as to insure the timely payments of salaries and and utilities. Last year, the Government also ordered 4 days off to let the employees a vacation of 10 days during the winter holidays.
