The laureates of the national literary contest “Letter to Mother” were awarded by the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport in the Award Gala on April 25. The Division’s spokeswoman Elena Vorotneac said that of the 2,500 students who took part in the contest, 250 received awards and diplomas. The 20 most active teachers, whose students achieved the best results, were also awarded, IPN reports.
Elena Vorotneac stated that the goal of the contest was to sensitize the young generations so that these build powerful families, when the mother is at home, the children are happy and the entire family is happy.
The jury’s head Adriana Cazacu, Doctor of Philology and professor of the State University of Moldova, said this contest is extending. The second contest of the kind involved 2,500 competitors, by 1,500 more than the previous competition. “The messages are very interesting, based mainly on adoration and veneration. We laid emphasis on creativity and the children were thus able to use their imagination and to formulate a message to the mother,” she stated.
First Prize holder in the Lyceum category Mihaela Gutu said the letter she wrote to the mother focused on the image of the mother and child in the daily life. It is a very important contest because many children do not appreciate their mothers, the efforts made by their parents and criticize them.
The contest was organized by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, the Chisinau Municipal Council’s General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, the Faculty of Philology of the State University of Moldova and the public association “Platforma Socrate”. It was intended for sixth-ninth graders and for tenth-twelfth graders.
