Winners of “I'm Young and I Get Involved” contest awarded
Journalist Iurie Sanduta, blogger Radu Lishitsa and the editorial staff of the Grigoriopol-based journal “Liceu.ro” were designated winners of the contest “I'm Young and I Get Involved” organized by the Young Journalist's Center of Moldova. The winners received certificates and money awards of US$150, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Seventeen journalists, six bloggers and five editorial staffs competed in the three sections of the contest – Best Journalist, Best Blogger and Best Editorial Team.
In a news conference on September 2, Natalia Moghilda, coordinator of the Young People Promoting Free Access to Information Project within which the contest was held, said there were few applicants as many of the students were on vacation.
Laura Jitariuc, a tenth grader of the Romanian theoretical high school “Stefan cel Mare si Sfant”, who forms part of the editorial staff of “Liceu.ro”, said they print the journal with their own money. “We go to school in the afternoon. It is located far from our homes, but this does not hinder us from continuing producing our journal,” she said.
The €16,000 Young People Promoting Free Access to Information Project was supported financially by the U.S. Embassy in Moldova. It aimed to strengthen the press of the youth and promote democratic values and included training courses for young journalists, press club meetings, city games and a summer school.
