The National Office of Vine and Wine will manage a Winemaking and Winegrowing Register that will include all the companies that make, store and sell wholesale wine and wine products and grow and sell grapes for making wine, IPN reports.
The regulations concerning the functioning of the Register with the aim of keeping a record of all the wineries and vineyards of the country were approved by the Cabinet on March 9. These oblige the owners of vineyards and wineries to present grape harvest and wine production statements and stipulate the conditions of accessing the Register.
The implementation of the Winemaking and Winegrowing Register will be finished this September. The costs associated with the creation of the software and initial registration of wineries and vineyards amount to about US$1 million and are covered with a grant provided by foreign partners.
