The international wine exhibition “ExpoVin Moldova 2012” will be taking place in Chisinau during February 22-25. It brought together over 140 companies from the country and abroad. The 21st exhibit is organized by the company Poliproject, Info-Prim Neo reports. The organizers said the main objectives of the event are to develop the culture of wine consummation on the home market, to strengthen confidence in the bottled wines and to influence the reorientation of the population’s preferences of alcoholic beverages. In the official opening of the event, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumakov stressed the importance of rehabilitating the wine industry where wines and cognac of a better quality are produced every year. “Even if we achieved good results as regards the quality, a lot of work is yet to be done to promote our wines so that we become known and appreciated in the world,” said the minister. Two new exhibitions will take place this year as part of the main event – Wine Technology and the Wine and Gastronomy Theater. They will involve about 30 Moldovan companies that will offer cheaper products than in shops. Wine tasting events will take place at special kitchen-studios where renowned chefs from Moldova, Italy, Romania, France, and Cyprus will prepare delicious food. The exhibits include wines, strong alcoholic beverages, equipment and accessories for the wine industry and vine cuttings.
