Wine City to be extended to "Nativity of Our Lord" Cathedral square

The National Wine Day will be organized this year the first weekend of October, on October 5 and 6. But the start of the holiday will be given a week earlier by the country's wineries. They will open their doors for guests from September 28 until October 13. For the first time, on October 5 and 6, the Wine City will expand beyond the Great National Assembly Square, including the square of "Nativity of Our Lord" Metropolitan Cathedral, which will host the Wine School and the Countryside Yard.

According to the National Office of Vine and Wine (ONVV), the official inauguration of the event will be marked by a huge Hora (Moldovan ring dance) in the Great National Assembly Square and by an unusual presentation parade of all the winemakers gathered at the celebration. The stage will be set on Eugen Doga pedestrian street. Local and foreign singers will be performing at the event.

Contacted by IPN, Daniela Donțu, ONVV media and branding expert, stated that access to the National Wine Day was free, but visitors would be able to purchase, as in previous years, a wine tasting book. The book includes 12 tickets for 12 tastings, a ticket for discounts on promotional materials and a bus pass with which they could travel free of charge in the municipal public transport.

The price of a tasting book is of 200 lei if purchased prior to the event, while on the day of the event it can be purchased for 250 lei. The books will go on sale next week.

The National Wine Day was established in 1990 and is celebrated annually since 2002.
