The wine was declared food product by the final vote of the legislature on a bill to amend a number of laws. Also, as in most of the EU member states, the wine was classified into wine with and without protected denomination of origin, wine with and without protected geographical indication and wine with or without name of grape type, IPN reports.

Now that the wine was declared food product, this can be sold after 10pm as well. Advertising of wine products on television and print media will be permitted.

According to the law, the modifications will create conditions for developing the wine industry of the Republic of Moldova.
