Why did an ambulance arrive at Parliament’s temporary office?

An ambulance had waited for about half an hour near the Palace of the Republic while the MPs were in a meeting on June 10. The ambulance doctors could not say who called them and why they were called. Speaker Vladimir Voronin asked from his microphone that an ambulance be called to provide “medical assistance” to the Liberal-Democratic MP Vitalie Nagacevschi. He also ordered that the microphone used by Nagacevschi be disconnected. This happened while the MP leveled harsh criticism at Prime Minister Zinaida Grecianii over cases of corruption. “I think it was an uninspired joke by Voronin, which, as always, was taken by the autorities as an order,” Nagacevschi said after the meeting. “I do not need an ambulance. I will not give the Communists the joy of remaining with one Opposition member less.” Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Liviu Vovc, director of the Chisinau Emergency Medical Assistance Station, said that no ambulance was called to the Palace of the Republic. “It was probably an ambulance of another institution,” Vovc said. On its website, Pro TV Chisinau says that it was an ambulance of the State Chancellery, which was ordered to go to the Palace of the Republic without being offered any details.
