Moldovagaz president Vadim Ceban announced the company will buy Russian gas for $1458.5 in August.

This is a significant rise from the previous months: in July, Moldova bought gas for $980 per 1,000 cubic meters (+48.8%) and in June the price was $880 (+65.7%).

In early July, Moldovagaz asked the national energy regulator ANRE for another increase in household rates, initially requesting 23.57 lei per 1 cubic meter (VAT excluded) and subsequently 27.30 lei (VAT excluded). In its draft resolution which is yet to be approved, the ANRE proposes 20.61 lei (VAT excluded), a nearly 20% increase from the current 17.24 lei (VAT excluded).
