WHO offers another 1,000 test kits for COVID-19

The Republic of Moldova received another 1,000 test kits for detecting the novel coronavirus from the World Health Organization (WHO). The authorities also signed a number of contracts for the supply of such test kits and benefitted from donations from business entities, IPN reports.

After the March 24 meeting of the National Focal Point, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu said the consignment of test kits provided by the WHO reached Moldova in the evening of March 23. “The health system is strengthened by the effort not only of the public institutions, but also of private institutions. Last week and this week, we received donations of test kits from a private health care provider and I express my gratitude for this support. We also have a donation from a business entity working in the insurance sector. I also want to sincerely thank this company for this support that is intended not only for the healthcare system, but for all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova,” stated the minister.

A state of emergency was declared in Moldova in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic until May 15. Two persons with the novel coronavirus have been cured by now. One infected woman died.
