Who is Dumitru Țîra, candidate for the capital’s mayoralty

The article is part of the information campaign launched by IPN, in which it presents biographical data, income and possessions information, as well as the professional background of the contenders for the capital's mayoralty.

Dumitru Țîra is running for mayor of the capital on behalf of the European People's Party of Moldova, being number eight on the ballot.

Dumitru Țîra is 43 years old. He graduated in International Law from the State University of Moldova, and in Banks and Stock Exchanges from the Academy of Economic Studies. In 2008, he earned his master's degree in Business Management and Administration at ASEM.

Throughout his professional career, Dumitru Țîra worked as a lawyer with a financial institution, was a university lecturer at ASEM, and from November 2002 till November 2009, he held the diplomatic rank of adviser in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. Between November 2009-October 2013, he held the post of general director of Publika Media Group, while in January 2014 he founded Realitatea Media media group.

From December 2016 until now, Dumitru Țîra has been a member of the Integrity Council of the National Integrity Authority. In June 2008, he received the "Civic Merit" medal for achievements and implementation of European Union processes in the Republic of Moldova.

According to his CV, the PPEM candidate for mayor of the capital is fluent in Romanian, Russian, English and French.

According to his income statement, in 2018 Dumitru Țîra obtained revenues of 58 thousand lei for the projects carried out at the Association for Development and Cooperation in Moldova, while other 74 thousand lei from HB Media Lid, his main workplace. Other services rendered by him in 2018 to the Association for Development and Cooperation in Moldova brought him revenues of 22 thousand lei. The PPEM candidate lives in an apartment of 118, 4 square meters – his personal property and drives an Audi Q7 car with a declared value of 842 thousand lei.

Stating that he will be "a good mayor for the people, but a tough boss for the bureaucrats and the lazy ones", Dumitru Țîra has a few priorities for his first four months of office in the City Hall. The PPEM candidate wants to carry out an audit of the expenses and purchases made by the City Hall, and his actions will lead to the opening of a minimum of 57 criminal cases for embezzlement or bid rigging on the part of the former employees of the City Hall structures.

He also intends to create new procedures for managing municipal money, with 100% protection against corruption, bureaucracy and trading in influence.

In his election program, Dumitru Țîra says that he intends to make the suburbs a constituent part of Chisinau. The PPEM candidate declares in his electoral program that, after four months of work, he will organize a referendum, in which each resident of the capital will say how he/she wants the streets, the sectors and the city of Chisinau to be arranged.
