The Republic of Moldova has 1,760 citizens who earned incomes higher than 1 million lei in 2018. The youngest millionaire is 21, while the eldest one is 90, IPN reports.

According to the State Tax Service, the 1,760 millionaires earned incomes totaling over 6 billion lei together and paid almost 480 million lei income tax. One person gained a maximum of 83 million lei. Some 78% of the Moldovan millionaires live in Chisinau, while the rest in Bălți, Ialoveni, Strășeni and ATU Găgăuzia.

The number of millionaires decreased insignificantly compared with a year before, but is much higher than in 2016. In 2017, the State Tax Service identified 1,792 private individuals (who do not perform entrepreneurial activities) with incomes higher that 1 million lei, by 243 persons more than in 2016, IPN reports.
