A country that become a member or comes closer to the European Union obtains a positive image of stable and credible partner before foreign investors. It happened so with Poland, which in May will celebrate 10 years of membership in the EU, Undersecretary of State at the Polish Foreign Minster Katarzyna Kacperczyk was quoted by IPN as saying.
The Polish official came to Moldova together with a delegation of entrepreneurs, who discussed the possible areas of cooperation with Moldovan businessmen. Katarzyna Kacperczyk said that before joining the EU, Poland accessed many pre-entry funds and prepared the population. Afterward, it signed the Free Trade Agreement. The Moldovan authorities must intensely communicate with the people and inform them about all the benefits of the association with the EU.
Katarzyna Kacperczyk called on the Moldovans to compare Poland before 2004 and now, saying that after joining the EU, the country made an enormous jump in development. The official considers that there is great potential in Moldova, which can be realized for the country’s and the people’s benefit, while the Moldovan wine is a real treasure that is not yet appropriately promoted.
Katarzyna Kacperczyk’s visit was a pilot one as it paved the way for the visit of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, which was scheduled for end-March. A Moldovan-Polish economic and investment forum will be held on this occasion.
Trade between Moldova and Poland totals about US$450 million. A number of 160 Polish companies are now working in Moldova.
