The harvesting of wheat, barley, green peas, and rapeseed has been finalized in the first ten days of August, according to a memo from the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development, and Environment (MADRM), quoted by IPN.
Over 300 thousand hectares of wheat land have been harvested, with a total yield of 1.1 million tons. The average yield is 3.25 tons/ha, similar to averages in the past five years.
Of the total amount, 450 thousand tons are food-grade wheat, 550 thousand tons are fodder. 75 tons will be reserved as seed material, 350 thousand tons – for food reserves, and 400 tons – to the husbandry sector. Thus the national food and fodder reserves will be secured, and the excess of 275 thousand tons will be exported.
According to MADRM, 167 thousand tons of barley have been collected, from a total of 63.1 thousand ha. The fall barley yield is around 133 thousand tons. The spring barley yield is 34 thousand tons.
Dry green peas have been collected from a surface of 23 thousand hectares, with a total yield of 33.2 thousand tons. Fall rapeseed has been collected from across 41 thousand ha, with a total yield of about 83 thousand tons.
