What fines are faced by those who do not obey anti-epidemic measures

The persons who do not obey the decisions of the Commission for Exceptional Situations face a fine of 2,000 to 5,000 lei. In the case of legal entities, the fine ranges from 10,000 to 35,000 lei.

In a response to an inquiry made by IPN, the General Police Inspectorate said that if the fined person in a period violates again one or several measures introduced to control pandemic diseases, this will be fined 15,000 to 25,000 lei, while the legal entity will be fined 50,000 to 75,000 lei.

Under the Commission for Exceptional Situations’ April 1 decision, the persons who are outside the domicile, residence or another place of stay are obliged to have identification papers on them, either it is day or night. By its April 8 decision, the Commission allowed presence in public places, such as forests, parks, alleys, recreational areas and playgrounds, in groups of at most three persons, except for members of a family.

During the first two weeks of April, the police imposed fines totaling 4.5 million lei for violations of the measures imposed to stop the spread of COVID-19. Almost 3,000 persons and over 1,000 legal entities were fined.
