The presidential election candidates say that they will work to ensure the wellbeing of the population and will make the state work for the people, not the other way around. The promises were made during the third electoral debate of the series “We analyze electoral demand and offers”, organized by IPN News Agency.
The candidate of the Party for the Future of Moldova Vasile Tarlev described himself as a citizen of the Republic of Moldova, Moldovan, Orthodox Christian. He is under No. 4 on the ballot and hopes to convince the electors to vote for him. His slogan in the election campaign is “Wellbeing. Development. Peace”. His electoral program is based on several pillars, such as Moldova’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, military neutrality and the population’s wellbeing.
The main sections in his manifesto refer to the economy, healthcare, education, energy security, state security, territorial integrity of the country “so that Moldova can benefit from all the necessary aspects as in a democratic state, a state with the rule of law and reforms that ensure wellness in the Republic of Moldova”.
The candidate of the Party for Development and Consolidation of Moldova Ion Chicu is 52 years old, has three children, is married. He represents the Party for Development and Consolidation of Moldova, which last year contended for the first time in the local elections, where it ranked fourth by the number of gained votes, the number of won posts of mayor and local and district councilors. This support from the people served for him and his team as a motivation to continue their political activity, to become more involved in the electoral processes. That is why he decided to run in the upcoming elections.
After he graduated from college, he worked seven years out of 30 for the state, the others in the private sector, including seven years abroad. The candidate believes that his experience can be put to good use if he is elected President of the country, and hence his slogan in the elections: “The state at the service of the citizen”. Currently, in his opinion, the state is at the service of the ruling party. His mission will be to bring the state back into the service of citizens.
Iurie Reniță, the representative of candidate Octavian Țîcu, who was nominated by the Electoral Bloc “Together”, characterized Octavian Țîcu as a historian par excellence, a fighter for justice and truth, a high-performance athlete, but also a constant presence in the political life of Moldova since 2015. The candidate graduated from “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi and defended his doctoral thesis in history at the same university.
Iurie Reniță noted that beyond his scientific activity at a number of European and American universities, Octavian Țîcu also holds lectures at higher education institutions in Moldova. He is an open person who tells the truth regardless of the government. The candidate is supported by three political parties, which are part of the Electoral Bloc “Together”. This bloc is a pro-European one and with unionist elements and platform because “the Euro-unionist symbiosis is necessary in order to unite the right-wing forces and have an irreversible pro-European path.”
The series of debates entitled “We analyze electoral demand and offers” were carried out by IPN News Agency during October 8-10, 2024 with support from the German Marshall Fund of the United States, and the European Union.
