Well refitted by Premier Tarlev in his native village has been designated as best

A group of specialists, headed by director of Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, Mihai Ursu, has designated the most successful refitted and renovated wells and springs in 2006, by the leaders of the ministries, central authorities and raion chairmen, in their native villages, within the project “Water – Spring of Life”, launched by President Vladimir Voronin. The best refitted wells were those located in the native villages of Premier Vasile Tarlev (Bascalia vilage, Basarabeasca raion), of Anatol Papusoi (Taplesti, Sangerei), and Petru Silivestru (Cotiujenii Mari, Soldanesti). According to the pres service of the Presidency, the head of state has presided over a special meeting on summary of these activities. President announced that Petru Silivestru, vice minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, was awarded the Order of Labour Glory, Constantin Mihailescu, minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, and Valeriu Carcea, chairman of Glodeni raion were medalled with “Civic Merit” for the wells built or refitted in the native villages. As Voronin states, the citizens highly appreciate the actions for refitting the sources of drinking water. These efforts are made by the authorities with a view to supplying the population with safe drinking water. President stressed the importance of putting into operation of the aqueduct Soroca-Balti and construction of a pipe connecting this facility with the villages near the road. He referred also to the necessity of intensifying actions for supplying with drinking water the people in Gagauzia and southern raions. As a result of carrying out the project “Water – Spring of Life”, in 2006 there were refitted 70 wells and springs.
