The Icon of the Virgin Marry of the Ukrainian Boian Monastery that was brought to Saint Trinity Church in Gratiesti village of Chisinau municipality a week ago will remain there until Thursday, February 5, not until Tuesday as it was earlier announced, the vicar of the church, archpriest Victor Plesca has told Info-Prim Neo. “The Virgin Marry Icon gathered a lot of people these days. Our people show they are still truly devout,” the vicar said. Thousands of pious people come to the church in Gratiesti each day to see the icon that does miracles. Priests say that the people come at night and queue for hours to get to pray to the icon. “We came to pray to the icon that does miracles so that it heals us of diseases and we remain clean and light,” said Parascovia Cioinac from Ghidighici. Artur Cretu, who is 14 and is from Chisinau, said that he prayed for his parents who work abroad. According to archpriest Victor Plesca, the icon was brought with the consent of His Holiness Metropolitan Bishop Vladimir and is accompanies by several monks from Boian Monastery, who say prayers and anoint the faithful that come to pray to the weeping Virgin. Priests say that Virgin Mary cries with real tears and this was proven by scientists in Kiev, who established that the liquid contains elements of human tears. The icon started to cry 17 years ago and is considered healing. The Saint Synod of the Ukrainian church classed the Icon of the Virgin Marry of Boian Monastery as icon that does miracles.
