Meteorologists are forecasting an intensification of northwesterly winds, accompanied by sleet and snow overnight into Sunday. The unstable weather is caused by a southern cyclone, which is forming in the Mediterranean area and which will reach Moldova in the evening, Nadejda Stolear, chief forecaster at the State Hydrometeorological Service, told IPN.
A code amber advisory is issued for the northern part of the country. Intensification of the northwest wind in gusts of up to 15-20 m/s, precipitation, predominantly in the form of sleet and snow, isolated strong (15-25 l/m2) is expected. Also, isolated sleet deposits will form.
A code orange warning is issued in some areas in the center and south of the country, where heavy precipitation (25-45 l/m2), predominantly in the form of sleet and snow, intensification of the northeast wind in gusts of up to 18-23 m/s is expected.
In parts of the country there will be ice on the roads and blizzards.
For Saturday, November 25, nighttime temperatures are forecast around - 3... + 2 degrees Celsius, and +2... + 6 degrees Celsius during the day. For November 26, both nighttime and daytime temperatures are forecast to be around 0 degrees Celsius.
