Car seats for transporting children can be donated through a web platform. These will be distributed to families on low incomes as part of the project “A child seat from the heart!” that was launched by the Automobile Club of Moldova (ACM).
Project manager Virginia Mandalac has told IPN that the goal is to help as many families on low incomes that encounter difficulties in purchasing car seats according to the height and weight of the child as possible. To donate a seat or to become a beneficiary, the person should access the options “Donate” or “I need a child seat” on the platform baby4baby.org. A form is later filled out. When this is donated, the seat will be examined by specialists of the ACM and will be transmitted to the beneficiary that will be chosen with the assistance of a program.
Virginia Mandalac said the club earlier staged communication campaigns in maternity hospitals, kindergartens and schools to inform the parents about the necessity of transporting children safely. But in most of the cases, the adults said the car seats are rather expensive and they cannot afford them. The idea of implementing such a project derived from these discussions.
The project was launched in concert with the Automobile Club Belarus (BKA), being implemented with the financial support of FIA Road Safety Grant Program and FIA Action for Road Safety.
