Web page dedicated to future elections in Gagauzia
As part of the project “Free and fair elections of Gagauzia’s Government”, the Association for Participatory Democracy ADEPT has launched a web page www.alegeri.md, which includes information in three languages about the elections for the position of governor (bascan) of Gagauzia. This announcement was made on Wednesday, October 11, at a press conference, by Igor Botan, director executive of the Association for Participatory Democracy ADEPT.
The web page offers general information about the scheduled elections, information about the previous elections for the position of governor of Gagauzia, about the governor’s status, data regarding Gagauzia (status, political-historical, geographical guide marks).
According to the registration of the candidates and the starting of the electoral agitation, the web page will contain information about the opponents, their electoral offers, statements, press releases, eventual disputes, materials of civic education and other useful information in an attempt to inform the public opinion, to monitor and ensure the correctitude of organizing the electoral process.
The project “Free and fair elections of Gagauzia’s Government”, is carried out in partnership by EURASIA Moldova Foundation, Association for Participatory Democracy ADEPT, League for the Defense of Human Rights in Moldova (LADOM) and the Independent Press Association (IPA). The project is financially supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Swedish Agency for International Development and Cooperation (SIDA) and the US National Fund for Democracy.
The elections for the position of governor (bascan) of Gagauzia Territorial Unit will be held on 3 December 2006.
