We took a step towards alliance, leaders of PLDM, PDM and PL

The second trilateral meeting represented a step towards the formation of a center-right alliance, the leaders of the PLDM, PDM and PL said on Friday evening. Vlad Filat speaks about a start of the negotiations, while Marian Lupu said it was only a discussion, Info-Prim Neo reports. After over an hour of dialogue, Vlad Filat stated they can say that the negotiations have started. The procedure is rather difficult, but effort will be made to ensure an efficient government during four years. “I look at the developments with optimism and I’m confident that we will succeed in forming a democratic coalition so as to continue the processes that we began last year,” said the leader of the PLDM. Vlad Filat also said that the PLDM’s offer might be modified so that the Democratic Party designated the Head of Parliament and then the President of Moldova. The chairman of the PL Mihai Ghimpu also said the dialogue was a step towards restoring the Alliance for European Integration. “This time I can say that we took a step towards an alliance between the three parties. The Liberal Party will make everything possible so that this alliance exists,” said the Acting President of Moldova. The PDM leader Marian Lupu stated that the exchange of opinions centered on the functionality of the government mechanisms. “I cannot say that we are holding talks. I think a lot depends on the ability to abandon those principles that hinder ensuring the democratic norms,” he said. Friday’s meeting was the second between the leaders of the three parties. The date of the next meeting has not been announced.
