We never achieved so much in Moldovan-Romanian relations as during last year, Romanian foreign minister

“The Republic of Moldova will continue to be a sincere partner that undertakes commitments and knows how to fulfill them,” Prime Minister Vlad Filat said Monday in Bucharest, after the signing of the Treaty on the State Border Regime, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Frontier-Related Issues between Moldova and Romania, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Government’s press service, Vlad Filat said that this year Moldova and Romania have signed 15 agreements. The Border Treaty was signed in a European context, he stressed, reminding that Romania will soon join the Schengen area and is to ensure efficient border security and management. After the signing, Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi said Romania wants Moldova to make progress on the path to European integration, expressing his confidence that the border between Romania and Moldova will become an internal one in the EU. “We never achieved so much in the Moldovan-Romanian relations as during the last year,” he said. The treaty describes the conditions and method of defining the state border, the method of interaction between the border guard services of the two countries in maintaining border signs and border cooperation, the method of using boundary waters and the measures that will be taken to prevent the destruction of banks.
