“We are very close to the formation of a new government despite the difficulties and the unprecedented pressure exerted with the aim of keeping an immoral President and a government that works not according to the principle of responsibility towards the public interest, but according to the principle of loyalty to the patty and of further violation of constitutional provisions,” said the vice president of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” Igor Munteanu. In an interview for RFE/RL’s Moldovan Service, the MP said a motion of no-confidence was prepared several weeks ago and will be submitted when they are sure that all the necessary votes exist, IPN reports.
“We are close to that parliamentary math that should include the number of votes needed for that miracle to happen as the governments change not because someone loves them, but for them to fulfill existential or vital problems for the population. We now have that storm when the government should be replaced and another team should come,” stated the politician.
Igor Munteanu noted that the current government is responsible for the dramatic situation in which Moldova is now given the record number of epidemic cases and infections against the size of population. “Our opinion and position is that this Chicu Government will be unable to remedy the situation the coming months. If it is allowed to press the buttons, not only the sanitary-epidemiological situation will worsen, but we will witness the situation when the whole population will be infected with COVID-19 and three will be no ways out. We will no longer have doctors who would stay on guard and would treat people during the next few months,” stated the MP.
According to Igor Munteanu, the motion of no confidence will be proposed when there will be the votes needed for removing the government and also for forming a new Cabinet. “We do not insist on the fact that the ministers of the future Cabinet should be of the same political color. We want the responsibility to be first of all shifted onto the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”. But the ministers should be persons reputable in their areas, such as health, justice, economy and home affairs, and should be people in which the population will have confidence. They should provide solutions to swiftly and efficiently mobilize the process of taking decisions, in the public interest.”
The Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” said that it has three candidates for premiership: the party’s leader Andrei Năstase and vice presidents Igor Munteanu and Alexandru Slusari.
