The Republic of Moldova within the Commonwealth of Independent States continues to plead for fostering the commercial-economic and social-humanitarian relations, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița stated in the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government. In the teleconference, the officials discussed the prospects of stepping up commercial and economic cooperation, IPN reports.

“We aim to improve the investment climate on the CIS platform, to facilitate the exchange of goods, to eliminate the barriers and impediments to the movement of goods, services and people, under open and mutually advantageous cooperation. I’m convinced that we, the Heads of Government, are responsible for making sure that the citizens of our states feel the results of the work done concertedly,” said Premier Gavrilița, being quoted in a press release of the Government’s press service.

The interlocutors also exchanged information and opinions about the developments related to the pandemic situation and the effects of the restrictions imposed to stop the spread of infection on economic processes.

“I express our gratitude to our partners from the CIS that offer assistance and support to the Republic of Moldova in the efforts made by the authorities to manage the pandemic crisis and to alleviate the consequences of this for the population. In the current unfavorable conditions, our common objective is to combine forces to minimize the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economies of our states,” noted Natalia Gavrilița.

Together with her counterparts from the CIS countries, she signed agreements aimed at encouraging cooperation in healthcare, culture and railroad infrastructure.

On December 8, it will be 30 years of the signing of the Agreement on the establishment of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The Republic of Moldova ratified the agreement in April 1994.
