WB continues to support farmland consolidation process in Moldova
Projects to consolidate the farmland are being implemented in 40 Moldovan settlements with the logistical-financial support of the World Bank, Info- Prim Neo reports, quoting the Ministry of Economy and Trade.
Specialists working in the given settlements learn from the experience in consolidating the land accumulated during the 13 pilot projects implemented during 2007- 2008. Six of them were carried out with financial support from the World Bank, while seven were initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the Economy Ministry said.
According to officials, such land consolidation mechanisms as cooperation, association and lease worked out as part of these pilot projects turned out to be efficient. The selling-purchase mechanism was also used.
After implementing the pilot projects, the area of consolidated land in 2008 rose by 5 percentage points until the start of this year, to 69% of the 1.5 million hectares that can be consolidated.
