Waters claim five lives in only two days

Five men aged between 21 and 60 drowned in Moldova's lakes and ponds on Saturday and Sunday, Emergencies Service spokeswoman Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo. A 21-year-old man drowned in a lake near Vulcanesti town of the Autonomous Territorial Union of Gagauzia on July 31. Four men died on August 1 – a 22-year-old man drowned in the lake situated near Chisinau's Gates, a man aged 32 in a pond near Tomai village of Leova district, a man aged 60 in a lake in Caracui village, Hancesti, while a 38-year-old man in the pond of Mihalasa village, Telenesti. The body of the last man was recovered the second day. As many as 116 persons have drowned in Moldova this year. The victims include 19 women, 16 children and 81 men aged between 18 and 60.
