The European Union and the Austrian Development Agency will allocate €6 million for consolidating the water supply and sewerage infrastructure of Cantemir town. An agreement to this effect was signed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, the Austrian Development Agency and the administration of Cantemir town, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, a modern wastewater treatment station and a wastewater storage and transportation system on an distance of about 12 km, including pumping stations, will be built as part of the project. The existing water supply system will be optimized and the capacities of the economic operator that provides water supply and sewerage services will be developed.
In the agreement signing ceremony, Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Nicolae Ciubuc said this is a regional development project that will improve the sanitation conditions for about 2,500 persons from Cantemir town. A safe wastewater treatment process will be ensured.
The project will be completed in 2021.
