About 2 km of polyethylene water pipes that are 110 mm to 225 mm in diameter and a number of water mains that supply water to a kindergarten and apartment buildings located at 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 32/2 Andrei Doga St and 1/1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5 Tudor Vladimirescu St will be modernized, IPN reports, with reference to SA “Apă-Canal Chișinău”.
According to the water supplier, the water pipes will be fully renovated. As a result, no pipeline failures will be experienced at the mentioned addresses.
The repair works will last until then end of September or the start of October. The pipes will be then subject to hydraulic testing and will be disinfected. The new water supply networks are built in parallel with the existing ones so that the supply of water will not be interrupted.
All the works are performed by the Spanish company SA “OCIDE Construccion” that won the international tender contest. In parallel, the contractor renovates the water supply networks in Buiucani district of the capital city, on the section between the streets Nicolae Costin and Onisifor Ghibu. Thus, about 4 km of water pipes with the diameter of 110 mm to 225 mm are to be replaced there by end-November.
A pipeline section on Academiei St was rehabilitated under the same contract.
The works are carried out as part of the program to rehabilitate about 190 km of water pipes and approximately 7 km of sewer pipes in the municipality of Chişinău. The works are financed with the loans raised by SA “Apă-Canal Chişinău” from the EBRD and EIB and with the investment grant provided by the EU through the Neighborhood Investment Facility.
