The public utility SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” said a water pipe with the diameter of 32 mm burst at 105 Vasile Alecsandri St, causing a leakage. Given that the remedying works are difficult, many of the dwellers living on the streets Vasile Alecsandri, Veronica Micle and Alexandru Pushkin were disconnected from the supply of water, but were provided with water tanks, IPN reports.

The company said that a tank will be available at 20 Vasile Alecsandri St until the works are completed. If need be, the number of tanks will be increased. The damaged portion is to be reconnected to the municipal water supply system by the end of June 26.

According to “Apa-Canal Chisinau”, its specialists during the last few years managed to decrease the water losses by almost 20% following the rehabilitation of water pipes and the investment made by the municipality and by the water supplier. Operational groups of the Central Dispatcher’s Service that works nonstop examine the accidents on the spot.

Owing to the complexity and gravity of the signaled accidents, not all the leakages can be fixed the same day, but this does not mean that the company’s specialists do not do their job. For June 26, the Central Dispatcher’s Service issued 40 notices to deal with water pipe accidents on the streets of Chisinau.
