The public utility SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” (ACC) submitted an application to the National Agency for Energy Regulation, asking adjusting the water charges. The reasons invoked by the supplier are the modification of the rate of inflation and the rise in the electricity tariffs and fuel prices.
ACC director for relations with the clients Vladimir Mocreac, after the July 20 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, told the journalists that the last time the water charges were adjusted in 2009. “Since 2009, the electricity and gas tariffs, the inflation and fuel prices and other elements that we have to purchase from other countries – like spare parts and equipment - increased for several times,” he stated, noting that the water charges must be adjusted without delay so that the company could work without disruptions.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said the supplier will have to reduce the running costs so as to show that it is also making effort to remedy the situation, not only asks for higher charges.
