Warning for those who discharge wastewater with high pollutant concentrations

SA “Apă-Canal Chisinau” (ACC) warns the consumers, in particular the business entities, not to discharge wastewater with high concentrations of pollutants in the public sewerage system. Besides fines, those who do so risk being disconnected from the drinking water supply and sewerage systems, IPN reports.

In a press release, the supplier says that to avoid the suspension of contracts, all the consumers with entrepreneurial activities should review the technological process and should not discharge substances with concentrations that exceed the admissible limits.

The business entities should build wastewater pre-treatment stations to reduce the pollution coefficient and the paid sums.

The water supplier noted that even if the technological process at the Chisinau wastewater treatment station is permanently monitored, wastewater with maximum concentrations of pollutants are periodically discharged in the public sewerage system.

In order to avoid unwanted situations, the administration of ACC will increase the number of inspections at business entities operating in such areas as wine industry, dairy, meat, fish and alcohol production.

If business entities that discharge wastewater with high pollutant concentrations are found, these will have to pay the value of the damage caused to the enterprise and the environment. In extreme cases, these could have their operations seized.
