The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration informs the Moldovans that the Austrian authorities on September 16 reintroduced checks at the borders with Hungary, Serbia, Italy, Slovakia and Slovenia on a temporary basis, IPN reports.
The citizens who are in Hungary, cross it or want to travel to this country must know that the checks at the border crossing points Hegyeshalom and Kophaz were reintroduced. The checkpoint on the border with Serbia, near the Hungarian settlement Roszke, was closed, while the work of the checkpoint Asotthalom was suspended. It is recommended crossing the Hungarian-Serbian border through the checkpoint Tompa, which works daily between 7am and 7pm.
The Ministry warns that the situation can change at any moment and the citizens should thus inform themselves beforehand about the traveling conditions and the road and railway traffic in Austria and Hungary by visiting the official websites of the authorities of these countries.
For Austria: road administration - www.asfinag.at, the police - www.polizei.at, and the railroads - www.öbb.at. For Hungary: the General Police Inspectorate - www.police.hu, and traffic on the main roads in Hungary – www.utinform.hu/webkamerak/.
The Ministry reminds that the German authorities on September 13 also decided to reintroduce checks at the border with Austria (Passau area) on a temporary basis and traffic there is heavier.
