The cases of phishing in Moldova have increased in number since the start of this month. The offenders create websites similar to the authentic sites of different companies that deliver pizza or other type of food, placing these pages on top positions in such search services as Google and Yandex. The users, when filling in the orders on fake sites, insert card data and the security code received through SMS for confirming the transaction and money is then stolen from bank cards, the General Police Inspectorate has said, being quoted by IPN.
The police warn about more cases when offenders contact through messages persons who placed announcements to sell goods on advertising sites and, on the pretext of not being able to collect the good and pay cash, offer the victims to transfer money to their bank cards, asking for card data. The personal data or bank card data should not be revealed to anyone, even to bank personnel. The users should access only websites they know or used earlier and should be attentive to their name.
The persons are urged to monthly examine the account extract and to inform the bank and the police of suspicious transactions.
