The Nistru war veterans will riposte if the organizers of the anti-government protests block public roads, the head of the War Veterans Association “Faith to the Motherland” Ghenadie Cosovan said in a news conference at IPN.

“This is not a gesture of despair. We will mobilize the national forces to riposte to the actions of those who want to thwart our country’s development course. We fulfilled our duty for many years and contributed to maintaining national security when the law enforcement bodies didn’t do their job,” stated Ghenadie Cosovan. He noted that the attacks on Moldova started after the Association Agreement was signed with the EU. “The KGB fossils were mobilized to create a common front and not to allow the country to join the EU.

“The first actions were taken in 2014, when an attempt was made to corrupt MPs so as to prevent the ratification of the Association Agreement. We didn’t understand why we should delay this case. A person tried to recruit me to take part in the destabilization of the situation so that the people took to the streets and there was chaos, while the forces hostile to the European course came to power,” stated Ghenadie Cosovan. According to him, a hybrid war similar to that in Ukraine is being waged in Moldova as the external support was concentrated on the pro-Russian forces led by Igor Dodon and Renato Usatyi, while the national and unionist forces were dispersed and are being struck.

Ghenadie Cosovan said the attacks on the state continue with the aim of territorially dividing Moldova. “We will have a secessionist republic of the north. They want to tear up our country at all costs. We must tell the truth and educate normal voters,” he noted, adding that he and his comrades do not have a place where to protest as the other forces occupied the central square of Chisinau and the square before the Parliament Building and the Presidential Office.

A number of associations of veterans and civil society called on the government to take measures to stop the ‘hybrid war’ that already started to be waged in Moldova.
