War veterans demand stopping exerting pressure on Police Academy

The administration of the Ministry of the Interior is accused of intimidating teachers of the Chisinau Police Academy “Stefan cel Mare”. In a news conference at IPN, a number of war veterans called on the President of Moldova Nicolae Timofti to intervene and prevent the further demoralization of the institution’s teaching staff.

The head of the 1992 War Veterans Association “Tiras-Tighina” Anatolie Caraman said that one of the Academy’s employees – Police Lieutenant Colonel Iurie Prohnitski – is persecuted by order of acting Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean and Deputy Minister Sergiu Diaconu. Therefore, the Academy’s personnel declared a Japanese strike in support of this employee. The Ministry’s administration defamed and offended through the media Iurie Prohnitski, accusing him of abusive campaigning, and forced the subordinate staff to vote for the Democratic Party in last year’s parliamentary elections. The accusation is false, while the Ministry’s administration takes revenge because Iurie Prohnitski pleads against the liquidation of the Academy.

According to Anatolie Caraman, Dorin Recean intends to liquidate the Academy and to replace it with training courses that will last for several months. “Recean aims to sell the institution’s blocks, but cannot achieve his intention owing to the resistance put up by the teaching staff of the Academy and by civil society,” stated the head of “Tiras-Tighina”.

The head of the Association of War Veterans “Credinta Patriei” (“Allegiance to the Motherland”) Ghenadie Cosovan said the wrongdoings of the ‘reformers’ of the Ministry of the Interior continue. The very important regiment that defended the country “Scut” (“Shield”) was recently liquidated. “A number of dilettantes strike the most powerful institutions. We urge them to stop and call on the President of Moldova to intervene and bring this settling of an old score to an end,” said the colonel.

The head of the League “Justice” Alexandru Banari said the Academy’s employees oppose the oligarchic regime established in Moldova, which wants to occupy offices by raider attacks, pursuing mafia interests. The Academy not only trains new staff, but also allows the personnel of the Ministry of the Interior to improve their skills,” said the lieutenant colonel.

The three also demanded that Nicolae Timofti should convene the Supreme Security Council to discuss the wrongdoings committed by the administration of the Ministry of the Interior.
