The border police of the Chisinau International Airport arrested a Russian citizen put on the wanted list by the Swiss authorities for committing a number of financial-banking offenses. The 51-year-old man arrived in Moldova by the Moscow - Chisinau flight on February 11. He was placed under arrest for 72 hours, IPN reports.

According to the Border Police, the man presented the Russian passport at the checkpoint. While processing the data, the integrated system warned that the man was wanted by Interpol. It was later established that the man committed a series of financial-banking offenses in Switzerland.

The Russian citizen is held at the remand prison of the Chisinau Police Division. He is to be extradited to Switzerland.
