The president of the Party “Building Europe at Home” (PACE) Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, with reference to the case featuring him, said that while the challenges filed by his lawyers are being examined and until prosecutor Ludmila Zaharia is not suspended, he will continue his work at the international company, in the post he has held for two years, IPN reports.
In a video posted on Facebook, Ghorghe Cavcaliuc says he informed the Prosecutor’s Office about his return to work and presented the order enabling him to travel for business in a number of international jurisdictions where the company has activities.
“Both society and the media know very well that I work for an international company. My post there was suspended for about two months so that I could run in the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova,” he stated.
In another development, Gheorghe Cavcaliuc said that in connection with the multiple illegalities committed against him by the prosecutor in charge of the case Ludmila Zaharia, who is in a conflict of interest with him, and taking into account the violation of his right to defense, he considers the authorities failed in guaranteeing a fair trial. Therefore, on the recommendation of his lawyers, he intends to challenge all the illegal actions of the prosecutor.
He noted he does not avoid the prosecution body and is ready to appear before an honest, unbiased prosecutor after the illegal actions and documents issued by prosecutor Zaharia are annulled by court and after she is replaced.
The leader of PACE Gheorghe Cavcaliuc didn’t show up at the Sângerei Prosecutor’s Office on July 16. Consequently, the prosecutor ordered his arrest for familiarizing him with the indictment. In four days, he was put on the wanted list because he refused to appear before the investigation body. Also, four PACE members accused of hooliganism committed by two or more persons were indicted and will stand trial in the ‘brilliant green’ case. The decisions were taken by the Sângerei Prosecutor’s Office. Later the same day, Gheorghe Cavcaliuc said that he didn’t avoid appearing before the investigation bodies and is now on the way home together with his family as he was on leave.
