All the 307 polling places of Chisinau municipality were opened on time and without incidents. At 8am, the voter turnout was 0.45%, which is about 2,800 electors, IPN reports.

To validate the local referendum on the dismissal of the mayoral general of Chisinau municipality, the voter turnout should be at least one third of the voters included in the main electoral registers that total 628 683.

Deputy head of the Chisinau District Electoral Council Vitalie Miron in a press beefing said that no incidents have been reported so far.

Centru district of Chisinau has the lowest number of voters put on the electoral registers - 71 013. Botanica has the largest number of voters - 136 135. Condrita is the suburb of Chisinau municipality with the fewest electors – 550. Durlesti is on the opposite pole with over 18,000 voters.

Polling places close at 9pm.
