Voters want patient and incorrupt mayors - poll

The candidates running for Mayor should have such qualities as patience and respect for people (43.3%) and should not be corrupt (41.3%). These qualities were mentioned by the most of the respondents of the Barometer of Public Opinion made public last week in Chisinau. Also, the voters want responsible, hardworking and professional mayors, and about 2% plead for a rich mayor. The results of the poll also show that 40% of the voters would change their option if the party they support would promote a candidate they dislike. One third of the respondents said they would vote for the candidate of the party they support, even if they would not like the candidate. According to BPO, 65% of respondents said they have decided to take part in elections on June 3, while 16% said they would probably participate in elections. A total of 11% said they will not participate or probably will not take part elections. It is worth mentioning that the percentage of persons who are willing to vote amounts to 70% in villages and about 57% in urban area. The most of the persons who decided to participate in the polls (almost 70%) are aged 49-59, while less than 60% of young persons aged 18-29 consider this option. BPO was conducted by the Institute of Public Policies between May 3 and May 14 on a sample of 1100 persons from 76 settlements.
