Voters of right-wing parties decrease in number, IMAS director
The director general of the Marketing and Polling Institute IMAS Doru Petruti said that the slice of the voters of right-wing parties has narrowed. In the program “In Depth” on Pro TV channel, the sociologist said that the parties of the former Alliance for European Integration may be penalized by the voters in the possible early elections, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“During the first three years after 2009, the AEI, despite the lack of accomplishments, managed to maintain a balance, at last inside the polls. The scores were: 40 votes on the left-wing segment, 40 votes on the right-wing segment, and 20% of undecided voters. The compression of the voters of right-wing parties will be the first effect of what happens now. This prolonged exchange of fires between the PLDM and PDM will probably lead to a ‘cannibalization’ of the electorate. These two parties borrow from each other voters. In general, I think that the slice of the voters of right-wing parties became narrower,” Doru Petruti said.
He believes that the people are looking for a person to blame because they ran out of patience and, if early elections take place, the population will find not only one person to blame, but several persons, who may represent mainly the political right.
Acting Deputy Prime Minister Valeriu Lazar, of the Democratic Party, said he agrees that many voters are undecided. “This becomes more serious when a kind of political nihilism appears. It is a bad sign for society and we have not much time left to produce results,” he stated.
The Liberal Party’s deputy chairman, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said a penalty vote will be given and there should be only one verdict – everyone must be removed for what is going on. “I’m afraid we are already clumsy and ridiculous, even if we do something. No matter what we do, the people will say they are sick and tired and want other people to rule,” he said.
The head of the Liberal-Democratic faction Valeriu Strelet said that the voters’ trust in the political class can be restored only when there is sincerity and responsibility in the political relations and in attitude.
