The highest voter turnout in districts was recorded in Donduseni. 50.96% of the citizens eligible to vote there cast their ballots. At the same time, the lowest turnout was recorded in Basarabeasca district, where a turnout of 39.03% was registered. The Central Election Commission presented the preliminary results of the national constitutional referendum and the presidential election, IPN reports.

CEC chairwoman Angelica Caraman in a press briefing said that the last polling stations established on the territory of the U.S., in Sacramento, Seattle, and Las Vegas, and in the city of Vancouver in Canada, were closed at this morning, at 07:00 a.m. Moldova time.

According to the preliminary data provided at 10:00 a.m., 1,562,238 voters went to the polls, which is 51.67% of the ballot. 54.55% of the voters who marked their choice in Sunday’s election were women and 45.45% were men.

In the municipality of Chisinau, 361,786 persons voted, which is 54.13% of the ballot. At the polling stations opened for voting-eligible Moldovans who reside in the localities on the left bank of the Nistru, 16,131 voters cast their ballots.

At the polling stations established abroad, over 240,000 electors voted. After the polling stations in the states where they were opened were closed, the electoral offices of the polling stations intended for postal voting began counting the ballots received in envelopes. As many as 1,344 envelopes were opened (Canada – 438, the U.S. – 705 and Sweden – 201).

According to the General Police Inspectorate, 146 violations of the electoral process were recorded on election day, related to the photographing of the ballot paper, damaging of ballot papers and taking of ballots out of polling stations, prohibited campaigning, unauthorized placing of electoral materials, organized transportation of voters, reasonable suspicion of corruption of voters, violation of the right to vote, impeding of the work of the electoral body.
