The mayoral runoffs held in Călinești village of Fălești district on November 3, 2019 will be rerun on March 8, 2020. The Central Election Commission took such a decision after the Supreme Court of Justice upheld the ruling of the Balti City Appeals Court by which the runoffs were invalidated, IPN reports. 

Under the CEC decision, the runoffs will be rerun according to the voter rolls used on November 3. The young people who turned 18 meanwhile will be allowed to vote, not yet those who changed the domicile or residence in the period.

The results of the mayoral runoffs in Călinești were challenged by the Action and Solitary Party’s candidate for mayor Eduard Curtescu, who invoked multiple electoral frauds committed in the runoffs by his opponent Svetlana Pădure, of the Democratic Party, who was declared winner.
